SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE:
it’s that thing of when you’ve been fascinated by and in awe of the show ever since you were old enough to know what it was, and then your manfriend wins tickets to the 35th season finale, hosted by (now) 15-timer alec baldwin, and then you’re waiting in line in the lobby of 30 rock with your tickets, and a girl with a clipboard calls you out of the line for an undisclosed...

the mad men season 3 finale
is quite possibly the best single episode of a television show that i have ever seen. if you don’t watch already, please start…NOW.
this reminds me of how i felt when seeing demetri martin do a set on leno ( i think it was leno?) for the first time, as a senior in high school, in 2002. and of the subsequent ravenous scanning of “premium blend” and “comedy central presents” to find new and exciting (to me) comedy by people like zach galifianakis, slovin & allen, todd barry, and morgan murphy herself...
in honor of national sandwich day
i submit my fave: a number 10 - salsalito turkey and pepperjack cheese, with mayo, lettuce, and tomato - from city sub in park slope, brooklyn. if it’s good enough to kill my five year streak of vegetarianism, it’s probably good enough for you too.
